It might be interesting to break out another category here for non-diluting, early stage investment opportunities of the kind the state and some University groups are offering (some of the competition/bounty/challenge programs). Please, if you've had experience with any of these, feel free to comment here (maybe anonymously) on your experience. For instance, I know some entrepreneurial engineering students are frustrated by the requirement of some B-school funds to have a B-school student apply - I'm not sure if the gift arrangement behind these can be changed, but maybe there are other ways to meet MBA students to make this work?

In Stockholm, Sweden we have a school of "entrepreneurship" (www.sses.se) that is a joint initiative between the leading universities within each "major field" (medicine, engineering, economics & art/crafts/design) where students from all of the member universities can meet students majoring in other fields and discuss entrepreneurship and also start new ventures. This might be something that would work for your dilemma Dug.
